Not Everyone Will Like You Online

I’ve been out for awhile. I was not able to commit with my “every Tuesday new blogpost”. What a shame. πŸ™‚ Anyway, life happens.

So here’s my short realization about attempting to start a youtube channel. I posted this video last week (July 8,2019)

This is about my journey on how did I get rid of my algae on my anubias plants in my fish tank. If you are a fish tank owner, you know that getting rid of algae in your tank is not an easy task. Especially if the plants inside your tank are real, not plastics. You buy these plants a little expensive than a regular plant. Then you will notice algae are growing on them. How would you react? I value my fish tank because I invested money, time and hard work on it. So my initial reaction on it would be desperation to get rid of those algae.

It takes me more than a month to get rid of it. I was so happy when I did it. So I decided to make a video so I can help some fish tank owners who are dealing with the same problem.

So I decided to share my video on a Facebook Page that is only for fish tank owners, because I can see a lot of people asking for help with regards algae on their fish tank. However, I made sure to include in my video to mention that “I AM NOT A PRO”.

I was so excited that somebody responded right away with a two paragraph comment. Unfortunately, that comment burst my bubble. The guy wrote in his comment that my video is “very misleading” he said it twice. Wow, I thought I am making the video to help others. It is not really my intention to share misleading and inaccurate information. That comment definitely gives me total self doubt. Do I still need to do videos about fish tank care? Can I still share my stories?

I decided to leave it that way, keep my video there in facebook. I wrote in my post, “If most of you guys think my post is misleading, please let me know. I will take the video down.”

Now I can still see a lot of people asking for help regarding that topic. However, I am so hesitant to share my video. My intentions were good, but the reception to my audience is bad. They are probably thinking that it is a sales pitch, or a self promotion act to get subscriber.

Anyway, this is just a simple rant that I would like to share in my blog. I always tell myself, good or bad publicity – still a publicity. Now I have this funny thought of changing my channel name to a “Very Misleading Youtube Channel” lol

Don’t mind me guys, have a an awesome day ahead of you. πŸ™‚

Thank you!! It did help really. I think it’s a matter of perception. At first I feel weird about myself reading that comment, but now I feel good. Especially getting these encouragements from you guys. πŸ™‚ Really appreciate your time stopping by.

I will comment, and I will not try to take too much space.

You are a nurse. Now I’m going to make one point about the nursing process that too many nurses don’t think to apply to ALL human interactions which is the beauty of the nursing process: It’s only meant to evaluate humans; their behavior, health and wellness being on all levels. I WILL REMIND ALL NURSES that the nursing code of ethics gives us free rein to apply what we do for patients to our self.

As an LVN, I only evaluate subjective/objective observations which is the basic aspect of assessment: Basic assessment. This is the one area I share equally with an RN. When I am among other nurses; particularly RNs, and I am being judged/censored unfairly, I ALWAYS evaluate if they have assessed me: Have they asked me about my own “Subjective” (What I say, think and believe about something regarding my own “Experience”) as they observe my objective (what do they actually “See” as compared to what I say).

Too many nurses FAIL to ask me “Why” I do what I do, and they make “Assumptions” about my actins. Here is a basic failure of many nurses: With Patients and amongst themselves. And it leads to a failure within the entire process they implement because the “Basic” part is done poorly and is inaccurate. This leads to injury to the patient…pour outcome for the patient. If we do this as we assess each other then It also leads to poor outcome of inter-nursing relations and team efforts.

This joker that judged your site is a fool. Did he take into consideration “The objective” outcome: You GOT RID OF YOUR ALGEA! THAT’S OBJECTIVE AND EVIDENCED BASE. Did he ask you any questions about “Why” you did what you did so that you could explain? NO!

He assessed you poorly, and so his assessment is invalid.

You are just fine m’dear. You are just fine. Don’t you dare take that youtube down. In fact, use the nursing process to evaluate HIM? I JUST DID THAT FOR YOU, and I find he is a fool; CLOSED MINDED AND JUDGMENTAL AND CARELESS; NEGLIGENT.

    OK…Peace. Loved the video!

Grrrrrrrr……Sorry. I used way more than two paragraphs, but I wanted to make my point super clear. Your outcome spoke for itself. Besides…you have a degree in biological science.

Aaw you are super sweet!! Thank you so much for the support. πŸ™‚ And I’m sorry for your experience with some nurses that you worked with. Just like other fields there are good nurses and bad ones. And don’t worry if you write 10 paragraphs, I don’t mind it. In fact I appreciate it. I am not going to take down that video, because of you guys. You guys give me the confidence that I need to continue. I really appreciate your time. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Thank you Ilona. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ You are a great example in dealing with this kind of issue. You are very popular and you probably deal with these kind people before. The thing with me, I’m not even big in youtube and people are starting to be rude. πŸ™‚ Anyway, you guys are my inspiration in pushing this thing. πŸ™‚

You know why they rude? Because they have noticed, that you are good at it and they afraid, that you will become better than them, you know what? GO for it❀️
I’m not very popular, there are bloggers who is much much higher than me, but i’m doing my best and we will see with time, oh, about haters, someone ones wrote me i wish for you to die and called me stupid whore as well, you know, you can’t fight them all and to deal with them one by one, because time is to precious, i better write an extra post instead of dealing with them, i usually ignore haters❀️

Thank you Ilona for the support. I think I went too early to share my video in a big audience that know their craft really well which is “fishkeeping and plantedtank”. Lesson learned. πŸ™‚ Thank you for encouraging me to continue on what I’m doing. I really appreciate each and everyone here, you guys are great. I can’t ask for more. You are BIG Ilona that’s what you have bashers. I am happy that you know how to deal with them maturely. They are for sure jealous because you’re a total package. Beauty brain and heart. πŸ™‚

I enjoyed your video, and I’m not even a fish person. I’ve never been good with them.
I applaud your efforts to be helpful.
Also – You simply can not please everyone.
Do what you do, and we will continue to cheer you on.

Hi Deborah, I really appreciate your effort watching the video. I know it is not your interest but you still watched it. You don’t know how happy that makes me feel. πŸ™‚ I probably understand it by now. Maybe it is just sad for me because I am trying to reach to this certain audience, and it looks like it’s not good enough for them. But it’s okay, I am just starting out πŸ™‚

You are very forgiving Bestie, but maybe the negative comments are a good thing because they can spur you on to create the best video’s you possibly can, although it will be very hard to improve on perfection.πŸ˜‰

Criticism is the truest signal that you have done something that generates envy.

There is also the possibility that the critcism has some validity, but you can just harness that to improve in the future. I made some binaural beats music videos on youtube and people would say it gave them headaches or had an ‘evil aura’, things like that πŸ˜‚

True, and I understand his point. I’m pretty sure I will use this experience in the future to improve my videos. πŸ™‚ Oh well, sometimes when we make videos we forgot how it is in the other end. The viewers. πŸ™‚ Thank you for reading and watching the video. I really appreciate it.

I started a blog post that I have yet to post titled – Blogging Rule #1 – You Can’t Please Everybody So Don’t Try

After seeing your post, I decided to work on finishing it.

I think the same holds true for vlogging as well. Consider if it’s valid criticism as some people make valid criticism unintentionally when they were trying to do something else.

You may also want to preface it with YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary). In my experience, what works great for some people works poorly or not at all for other people. I do that with some posts when people have widely different experiences on something.

On my Disclosures and Disclaimers page, I have several disclaimers, including not a medical professional and not an attorney. After reading your post, I added Not a Pro disclaimer to the list and will start using it when appropirate. I tend to include the disclaimers in any post that includes my personal experiences in certain situations.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and of course for reading and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it. I love interacting in the comment area, the only thing is – my response can be very delayed 😦 I’m sorry for that. But yes YMMV is so true, it really depends on the recipient. And it depends on how they process the information. I will check where can I use YMMV πŸ™‚

Yes when I make how to video’s I make sure to mention “I am NOT A PRO” and I also mention some phrases like “it works for me, but it may not work for you” something like that. πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for the time. Sorry for the late response, life happens. πŸ™‚

I can totally relate to your experience. It was sometime during July that one of my posts was trolled by a girl on Instagram and that was the first time that happened to me. I did not know what to do and got so demotivated. I deleted my account and decided not to blog anymore. But after my partner advised me to ignore these trolls, I gathered my courage and returned. I constantly keep thinking of opening a youtube channel but just cannot bring myself to do that. I find the social media platform so negative. I am scared. Your channel and honest efforts inspire me. ❀

Aaw I’m sorry for that experience. I know it is devastating when you see people hating your hard work and saying bad things about that. I am glad you listened to your partner, he is totally right. As long as you are not hurting or humiliating other people you can post whatever you want. If you want a youtube channel, do it girl πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ I know it is not easy to have the courage to start. BUT we only live once, we should do what can make us really happy. πŸ™‚ Trolls are just jealous online users πŸ™‚
