Carpenters and Barbies

iceberg-rose

So I am writing this because of Lyndsey she wrote something about Karen Carpenter and it made me play their songs in youtube. 🙂

“Yesterday Once More” by The Carpenters is my song growing up. The song is about someone telling her story that there are songs that can take her back to her younger years and can make her both happy and sad. It is just so ironic that the song that can make me feel that way is this song – “Yesterday Once More”. It is like a song within a song, I don’t know if you really understand me. It is hard to explain with my second language. :)lol

Karen Carpenter died 3 years before I was born, and I have no idea why this is my song growing up. This is the song I am listening to while I’m playing with my headless barbies, yes they are like transformers. My barbies were like transformers. This song reminds me of my two favorite barbies, one English and one American. You know why? Once is from my Aunt that lives in London and one from my Aunt here in America. In the Philippines way back then, barbies are very expensive. They are gifts to me, their hair magically grow longer when I brush them, and their heads sometimes fell off. I know they are hand me down, but I love them so much. Just like this song, I love it sooo much.

My childhood has long gone, but thank you to this song for giving me a glimpse of those warm nostalgic memories. If only we can go back in time. If only we can get to see THEM again. They are all gone together with those lost time, together with our childhood. tata for now! 🙂

Please share your childhood songs if you have any! 🙂

Omg😮Love this😍and the songs are making my eyes fill up😭I can definitely identify with the Barbie thing. I absolutely adored mine growing up and the nostalgia thing, I completely get that. I’m forever wishing I could go back to my childhood(such happy memories)We take so many moments for granted, when there gone, there gone. So we should treasure every single moment, because before we know it, it’s lost in the past forever. This is one of my favourite posts, like ever. I love it😍Sending you tons of love🤗💜💕

Hello Lyndsey, first of all you are the reason why I am listening to The Carpenters again, because of your post. So thank you so much. Same here, with this song and remembering my childhood it almost made me cry. I am soo sad that I only remember few of my childhood memories, I wish I can go back but they are all gone – just what you said. You know what makes me really sad that there are some love ones that are huge part of my childhood that are all gone now, and these songs made me miss them more. It’s a huge complement coming from you that this is one of your favourite posts, I always look up to you and the other successful bloggers here. I am blushing getting appreciation from you. Thank you so much. 🙂 🙂

I hadn’t thought about childhood songs before. I guess I always stop at middle school when I get nostalgic about music. I’d have to say my childhood song is American Pie. Thanks for the prompt!

Hi Ilona, I am glad you are having break from your summer outdoorsy activities 🙂 🙂 First of all thank you so much for dropping and reading my blog post. And I am happy that you enjoyed the songs. Yes you are right, there are some things like songs or scents that can totally bring us to our wonderful or horrific memories of the past. But nonetheless, some of them are so comforting especially childhood memories. Of course, I will always support your blog no matter what. I can see the effort from you, you deserve to have readers. Thank you so much if you think that I am good at writing, I am just trying my best to be able to convey what I feel. You too have a good one. Sending my virtual hugs love. 🙂 🙂
